Self- Love: What Does it Actually Mean?
“The truest form of love is accepting a person exactly as they are, embracing their humanity, and seeing beauty in all parts of them.” -Ibbie
Self-love to me is a holistic practice.
It encompasses the nurturing of my emotional, mental, and physical well-being.
It's about treating myself with compassion and understanding, acknowledging that mistakes are inevitable and embracing them with humor and grace.
It's recognizing my humanity, with all its imperfections, and realizing that making mistakes is a normal part of the human experience… and being okay with that.
Self-love involves forgiving myself when necessary, understanding that growth comes from learning and moving forward.
It's about speaking kind and uplifting words to myself, fostering a positive inner dialogue that encourages self-worth and confidence.
It’s about setting and maintaining boundaries, respecting my own needs and feelings while feeling empowered by them.
It’s about believing in my capabilities and inherent worthiness, allowing myself to dream big and pursue my goals with determination and excitement!
It’s about taking committed actions towards self-improvement, while still embracing and accepting the flawed parts of myself.
Ultimately, self-love is about enjoying life, finding joy in the journey of self-discovery, and celebrating all that makes me unique and special.
I hope you can start taking committed actions each and every day to move toward loving yourself in the deepest way.
And I have to conclude with another quote because it’s one of my favorites and I hope each day that more of us can apply it to how we love ourselves.
“Treat people as if they are already what they ought to be and you help them to become what they are capable of becoming.” ~ Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Treat YOURSELF as if YOU are already what YOU ought to be and YOU help YOURSELF become what YOU are capable of becoming ❤️
